Many different groups have their own way of working.  This is an example of the kind of work and experimentation we focus on within our own investigations.

Briefing meeting : This initial meeting is an introduction to the whole team who will be working during the night.  Finding out a bit about the location and a briefing about the health and safety regulations as well as any other rules the venue might have.  A run through of the various types of equipment which will be used during the night and be given a brief about vigils and quick run through of the evenings proceedings.  

Instruction in reporting findings : An important part of any paranormal investigation is to report any findings.  Any new members or guests are given some details about this kind of reporting and filling out G.H.O.S.T. investigation sheets.  This includes how to take base line readings, how to report any experiences whilst in your groups both scientific and psychic and reporting psychic experiments.

Guided meditation : Sometimes a medium may lead a guided short meditation of about 5 minutes to get the group focused, and protected.

Trigger object experiments : This is an experiment most investigors use whilst out in the field.  The idea is to basically see if an object is moved during the night without anyone physically going anywhere near it.  The object is placed on top of a sheet of paper on a flat surface and drawn around.  Ideally it is filmed throughout the night to ensure no-one tampers with the experiment.  As soon as it is set up it should be photographed to be able to be compared with another photo which should be taken at the end of the night.  It is also a good idead to have the object in a room or location which can be locked so that no-one can enter, or to motion detection sensors placed next to it, so if movement does happen the group can be alerted during the proceedings of the night.  The object is normally something which is related in some way to the building or the spirits who are meant to be active there.  For example, a place often reported to have children will often see a toy being used as the trigger object.  Members are invited to  bring along anything on the night they might feel would be useful to use as a trigger object.

Dusting & stacking experiments : Dusting Experiments have often been used by psychic investigators, especially before the use of video cameras.  This is to see if there is any movement or any imprints can be left by the spirit/s who is meant to roam the location.  This involves dusting either talcum powder or flour on a surface and leaving.  Again this should be videoed, if possible and be in a location where it cannot be tampered with.

Stacking experiments are just as the name suggests, stacking objects up in a location to see if they are knocked down during the night, or else leaving items to see if they stack themselves up.  This can be anything easily stacked such a tape boxes or building bricks.  Again it should ideally be videoed and be in a location where it cannot be tampered with.  Again if there are any objects a members wishes to bring along for this kind of experiment, they are free to do so.

We are also open to try out any other experiments you may have devised or read about (there are many more!), members are invited to advise if there are other experiments they may wish to carry out during the investigation so it can be included in the running for the night.

Small group vigils : The team is normally split up into small groups ranging from 3 to 6, depending on the numbers of locations within the venue and the amount of people on the investigation. 

Taking video's and pictures : These can proove to be invaluable to recording evidence of activity during an investigation.  As we are a group trying to collate and gather evidence from a range of venues, it is important that any findings recorded or photographed during GHOST investigations are submitted to committee for inclusion on the website.  This way all evidence can be put together in one central place, and all other members get the opportunity to view the footage.

Glass moving / Ouija board experimentation : This can be a fun experiment to take part in, but is only permited with a GHOST medium present..  The medium will open the circle and  show any new members or guests how to start the glass moving and to ask questions and get answers.  GHOST hold no responsibility for whatever comes through during this kind of experiment.  It must also be advised that sometimes relatives or friends of people taking part who have passed away may also come through, so you should be happy to be able to deal with this situation should it arise. 

Scrying tuition and experiments : For the braver ones among you this can be a really eye opening experiment.  Scrying is basically looking into an object and seeing a reflection back, psychics say through the third eye, which will either be some details, a location of a face appearing over your own.  Quite often we have used this experiment in the past to see some great results.  We will tend to use a mirror when doing this kind of experiment on location.  All members and guests are guided and looked after by a GHOST medium during this kind of experiment.

Large group séances : Usually towards the end of the night we will hold a large group seance where we join everyone from the night together to see what can be felt, seen, heard or smelt in a particular location within the venue.  If the venue is not happy about seances being held, we will hold a large group vigil as an alternative.

De-brief meeting : Everyone will come together to report their findings for the night.  Members will be advised if any of the findings match up to any historical facts or things which have been experienced before.  It is also a chance to find out a complete overview of the whole investigation.

AFTER THE EVENT

Reporting : All the investigation sheets are collated together and a report written detailing all the experiences.  These are catigorised into physical evidence and psychic evidence.  Any questions about historical information or details will also be complied at the end of the report.

Video / Photography : All the video footage and photographs are checked through carefully by members of the GHOST team.  These are then edited and put together to form a small portfolio of visual evidence.

Historical Reseach : Members are encouraged to try and spend some time helping in collating information about the venue or location and attempt to confirm details which have been forwarded during the investgation and complied at the end of the reports.

Collation : All of the details whether visual, reporting or historical research are all collated together on the GHOST website.

Memento of the night : Each venue will recieve a certificate of the nights investigation with a rating as to the amount of activity found within their venue.  They will also recieve a full copy of the collated report.
